@geekgirlau I’m very sorry to hear about your experience.
Part 2 - There are many coaching organisations that credential coaches. One is the International Coaching Federation - coaches have to sign up to ethics and standards and there are rigorous assessments and training required to be credentialed by them. Note that a credential is different from being a member of that organisation. As a member you pay money and sign up to ethical standards but there is no assessment of your training, experience and skill. Additionally there are some extremely reputable coaches who do not have a credential but have undertaken significant training for example the Masters of Coaching Psychology from the University of Sydney.
This is an important article about coaching. Thank you for highlighting the issues of finding a suitably qualified and ethical coach in what is an unregulated industry. Full disclosure - I am a coach. If you are contemplating coaching here are some questions to ask of your coaching professional: What qualifications and training do you have and how long did this take? Are you credentialed with a coaching organisation (for example the ICF) and what was involved? Do you have coaching indemnity and liability insurance? Do you undertake coaching supervision? An experienced reputable coach will welcome these questions and give you detailed answers.
