Minimal change in someone's already great looking skin for something incredibly time consuming, expensive and painful. Women deserve better than believing we have to put ourselves through this to preserve youth.

Great article. You sound like a fantastic mum. Just want to shout out the single parents like myself with no-co parent though, no second weekend. There are different degrees of single motherdom. Sorry to sound bitter, I don't mean to state that things aren't challenging for others too.

Skincare companies profit because women are made to feel badly about ourselves as we age. 10- year-old girls don't "need" these products, however I would like to see more critical reflection on the fact that 20, 50, and 90 year old women don't "need" them either. Sunscreen is different, though I feel even the evangelical promotion of sunscreen in recent years from the beauty industry has been geared towards the preservation of youth. Sad to see these insecurities arising in young women and girls, but not surprising as self hatred turns profit for the industry which Go To is a part of.

I’m 25, a member of the generation you say is broken, and I was/am fortunate enough to have parents who loved me, who sought to learn from their own upbringing and do their best for their own children. None of us get it 100% right, and perhaps some parents are over correcting. I don’t know what circles you are running in, but I wasn’t learning Mandarin out of the womb or living a pain- free, insulated life. I had a loving and trusting bond with my parents, formed as a child and carried through my teen years and into adulthood.

I am a social worker in child mental health and trust me, the teens, toddlers and infants I work with – who like me are members of the much-derided snowflake generation - have not been coddled or protected from 'the realities of the world'. Any one of their situations would bring you to tears. Is it really helpful to make such sweeping comments to enforce generational divides that are essentially arbitrary anyway. These arguments are also coded in sexism – is it the fathers you’re talking about here? Didn’t think so. IMO this argument is anecdotal low hanging fruit.
