@babble I always find it odd how politicians ... feel the need to bring their families into ...
Huh? Politicians have been doing this for years. I think they believe it makes them appear more relatable and trustworthy.
(I would also assume that (some) men who aspire to the top echelons of politics (and business) knew that having a wife and kids was a neccessary part of fulfilling this goal.)

@claire.aikman Wow! Thanks

simple simon May 15, 2024

@ican'tthinkofone What, can you just post a picture of someone in Google, and it will tell you who designed their clothes and how much they are?

Laura was wearing a ... dress and matching jacket from ...  Carla Zampatti. The cost ... just under $1,900
As a naive straight male, can I ask how you know this?

Oprah's body and what she does with it is nobody's business but hers. After years of having her body picked apart by the media, this is the autonomy she deserves.
I actually heard Winfrey say years later that when she wheeled that wagon of fat out on her show, and everyone cheered, that she made her weight public property.

And on a related point, when well-known people front weight loss campaigns, I believe they are making their weight public property.

It wasn't long before we had met each other's friends and families
And I assume they all told you he was a good bloke. Wow!

Yes, I agree having celebrities was wrong. They were clearly just there to build their profile (and take the celebrity payment).

And also, we now don't have the annual: Will Chris Brown be the next Bachelor?

simple simon May 9, 2024

Joe dumped two girlfriends before filming
If someone is seeing two (or more) women simultaneously, can each woman be called their girlfriend?

simple simon May 6, 2024

those big-name American celebrities ... cost ... a whole hell of a lot of money
Yes, I couldn't figure out how 'The Masked Singer' was actually profitable.

Re. 'The Bachelor', why did they persist with having three bachelors when it didn't work the first time?

On a related point, if you have an upset stomach, a great tip I learned once was this: grate an apple, let the pulp turn brown, then eat it. It's amazing.

@vipope17 So I'm not the only one who has never heard of the term 'whet'.

simple simon April 30, 2024

And in these times of open female sexuality fluidity, can women please stop calling their female friends their 'girlfriend'.

simple simon April 30, 2024

there's still plenty of drama to whet our appetites
I had no idea it was not 'wet'. But it makes complete sense: what would 'wet your appetite' actually mean?

simple simon April 27, 2024

the same goes for her best mate, who gives her half of everything she makes in content creation as well
Okay. So she's not just giving her friend half of that income; they are both sharing the income they each recieve.

@mamamia-user-482898552 I think the Kardashians ... put the feminist cause back 50 years
What, you mean being hot and on the arm of a high-status man is not what being a successful woman is all about?

simple simon April 19, 2024

@snorks I think most people see cheating an insurance company as something "borderline illegal". As per this article, people openly brag about it.

simple simon April 18, 2024

@snorks The term dodgy is often used to explain illegal acts. Eg. dodgy scheme, dodgy payments, dodgy workmanship

simple simon April 17, 2024

it's ... an uncomfortable experience hearing a woman reduce another woman to her physical appearance when assessing her worthiness
Huh? This individual is a Hollywood actor. They are reduced to their "physical appearance" all the time.

simple simon April 16, 2024

When overseas celebrities appear on our reality shows, is it pre-agreed that they will only appear for a limited time of the show?

simple simon April 15, 2024

@rush I think it was more that having a (high status) man is the be all and end all for a woman.
